    Stainless steel is a metal alloy with a molecular composition of at least 10.5% chromium in addition to the typical iron, carbon and several other minerals. It is this unique blend of ingredients that gives stainless steel its signature high corrosion resistance. Chromium and other elements such as nickel and manganese in stainless steel react with air and water to form a protective film on stainless steel that protects the surface from corrosion. By subtly varying the percentage of these minerals in the metal composition, the exact properties of the stainless steel can be controlled according to the requirements of the final product.



    Aspects of steel such as corrosion resistance, physical strength and ductility can all be controlled by adjusting the mineral composition to ensure the type of stainless steel our customers require. The versatile nature of stainless steel leads to its use in a variety of applications. From being used as a structural material due to its corrosion resistance and strength, all the way to serving as tableware due to its durability and longevity, stainless steel has proven itself to be a versatile material.
    Due to the higher durability, strength and mineral content of stainless steel, more intensive processing is required for precise cuts and a premium finish. The laser systems we use provide smooth, polished cut surfaces for stainless steel.
    Although we have extensive experience with various grades of stainless steel, we are able to cut stainless steel up to a thickness of 20mm. These include: 304, 310, 316, 321, 430, 3CR12 (4003). If the grade of stainless steel you need is not on the list above, 100W Laser can still help you.
